1) How long is the program?
At AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy, we understand the importance of giving your child a solid foundation in robotics. Our program is designed to provide children with four years of learning and development. Each year is divided into ten months, allowing plenty of time to explore and grow their skillset. The other three years are optional if you wish to extend the duration or focus on specific areas within robotics. We are confident that after completing this program, your child will have an excellent grasp of all things robotics to launch their Technology startup company!
2) What are the course requirements?
Junior engineers must bring a laptop, any model from the year 2020. They do not use a phone or tablet for Coding and Robotics.
3) What coding languages and platforms will the children use?
This cutting-edge program allows children to code in Java, C/C++, and develop groundbreaking Arduino-powered technological advancements for the future.
4) Do I need to buy extra equipment other than the ones provided by the academy?
No. The Academy will provide the Arduino kits that will be used throughout the course. For anything extra, you may buy at-home tools such as a screwdriver set, glue gun, screws etc.
6) Where is the Academy located?
The main offices of AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy are at Dube Tradeport (King Shaka Airport) 29° South, 7 Umsinsi Junction La Mercy, Dube City, Durban 4399. We also have a presence in Empangeni through our partnership with the Transnet Mega Hub.
7) Does my child need any coding experience?
Our programme is designed to make it easy for anyone who has never tried robotics to start learning immediately – no prior knowledge is required. No previous coding experience is required as the junior engineers are guided step by step from basics to the most advanced concepts in Software Engineering.
8) What are your key Focus Areas?
At AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy, the future of work lies in both engineering and interpersonal skills. We strive to prepare the next generation for success in a rapidly changing economy by teaching them essential technical and social skills. Our courses are designed to help students develop their problem-solving abilities and communication, teamwork, and leadership capabilities. By equipping our talent with hard and soft skill sets, we ensure they have what it takes to thrive in an ever-evolving world of work!
9) What sort of Robotics Kit does my child get?
At AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy, We offer our juniors an Arduino Sensor kit, which sets us apart from other robotics programmes. This kit has everything you need to learn the basics of Arduino programming and build exciting projects. With this sensor kit, they can quickly get up and running on their own robotic creations without having any prior knowledge or experience in robotics. The sensors included in the package allow for a wide range of applications, such as motion sensing, temperature monitoring and even obstacle avoidance.
10) How do I make payments?
As part of your subscription, you can choose a payment plan that best suits your needs: monthly, quarterly or annually. Please note that an admin fee will be billed only on the first payment as part of the registration process. EFT payments are only allowed for annual payments
11) How is AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy different from other robotics Programmes?
Our courses offer an engaging, hands-on way to learn everything from basic Software programming and circuitry to advanced robotics. We focus on projects and creative problem-solving with a unique blend of heavy-hitting technology and fun activities. Juniors get to apply their own skills to problems, develop a deeper understanding of robotics, artificial intelligence, and programming, and work on Industrial design to bring their ideas to life.
12) What other benefits are there with my child being at AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy
At AlgoAtWork Robotics Academy, we are proud to give our children access to some of the most exciting industry conferences, hackathons and speaking opportunities locally and internationally. Our students have also been given the opportunity to participate in global platforms such as "AI for Good", "Teen Entrepreneur of The Year Competition", and the Kids International Conference - just a few examples of how we strive to provide them with unique experiences that will help shape their future. These programs will enrich your child's life by giving them exposure beyond what they would normally get through traditional education!
13) After completing the first year, what do juniors do in the other three years at the Academy?
In year 2, Junior Engineers are introduced to the fundamentals of business and media.
Year 3 focuses on technical aspects such as Machine Learning, AI, Web servers, Android development, and media through blogging and podcasting.
Year 4 students join a special technical mentorship programme to take their products to market and become senior engineers as they launch their Technology startups to global markets upon graduating.
14) What does your curriculum cover?
14) In this program, we introduce them to the fundamentals of writing code in C++/C# and Java. They also get an introduction to how programming works with Arduino micro-computers and learn creative problem-solving techniques such as mind mapping, prototyping, brainwriting, reverse brainstorming etc. Entrepreneurship is a key component that has been embedded into the DNA of our curriculum - helping equip you with the necessary skills for success in today's world.
